The creation of Union has been led by a small team of local researchers and organizers. Stay tuned for updates over the coming months as this team expands to bring on new skills and perspectives.

Sean Campbell

Sean is a lifelong Waterloo Region resident who supports non-profits, social enterprises, co-operatives, and municipalities with research and program development through his organization, Scaled Purpose.

He holds a business undergraduate degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, and a masters in Sustainability Managent front the University of Waterloo. Sean serves as a board member for Hold the Line, a local nonprofit that celebrates smart growth planning policies and a strong countryside in Waterloo Region.

You can find Sean flying a hot air balloon or cycling around town.

Alex Szaflarska

Alex is a worker-owner of Together We’re Bitter Co-operative Brewing, a co-organizer of Craftoberfest, and a board member of Hold the Line.

In her other life, she is a PhD student focusing on co-operative governance models in conservation land trusts. Alex was the co-organizer of Disrupting the Disrupters, a recent conference on platform co-operativism. Her favourite meal is breakfast.
